Dr. Keith Dedmond

Dr. Keith Dedmond grew up in Shelby, N.C. and graduated from Shelby High School. He married Kathy in Chapel Hill in 1972 while he was in his second year at UNC School of Dentistry. Kathy is a retired school teacher for Lincoln County Schools and plays an active role in taking care of their grandchildren. They are members of First United Methodist Church.
Their four children graduated from Lincolnton High School and UNC Chapel Hill. Kevin received his master's degree from Duke University and works as a nurse anesthetist at Duke Medical Center. Michael received his doctor of Pharmacy degree from UNC and works as a pharmacist at Walgreens in Lincolnton. He is married to Bridgett (also a UNC graduate). They are proud parents of identical twin sons, Connor and Banks. Melissa received her master's degree from Duke University and is a Physician Assistant at Charlotte Dermatology in Charlotte. She is married to Brandon, who is a Virginia Tech graduate. Brian received his DDS at UNC Chapel Hill and is married to Kris (also a UNC graduate). They are proud parents of Brinkley, a beautiful daughter.

Dr. Keith Dedmond

Dr. Keith Dedmond grew up in Shelby, N.C. and graduated from Shelby High School. He married Kathy in Chapel Hill in 1972 while he was in his second year at UNC School of Dentistry. Brian is a dentist and his wife Kris is a dental hygienist (UNC), both practicing at Dedmond & Tallent Dentistry.  Keith is the proud grandad to 6 grandkids - Brinkely and Kallie (Brian), Connor and Banks (Michael), and Ellie and Jackson (Melissa).
Keith finished Dental School in 1975 and practiced general dentistry as a Captain in the US Air Force for two years. He and Kathy moved to Lincolnton in 1977. He has committed himself to be a life-long learner to be able to keep up with the latest techniques in dentistry and provide the best care possible for his patients.
He is proud that he is a Fellow in The Academy of General Dentistry. The AGD requires 500 hours of rigorous courses and a daylong qualifying examination to earn the degree. He is also an alumnus of the L. D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education. He attended six week-long continuums not only to be able to perform better dentistry, but also to build better relationships with his patients.

He is a member of the North Carolina Dental Society, the ADA, the AGD, and he has served on the board of the UNC Dental Alumni Association. On the local level, he belongs to the Gaston and Lincoln Dental Societies and the Foothills Dental Continuum. He is involved with over twice the required hours of continuing education each year.

Dr. Brian Dedmond is a 1999 graduate of Lincolnton High School. In high school, Brian became interested in dentistry by observing in his father's dental office. Growing up a lifelong Tar Heel fan, Brian was proud to attend the University of North Carolina for his undergraduate education. Brian received his Bachelor's degree in Biology from UNC in 2003. He then went on to pursue his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. His academic and clinical accomplishments in dental school awarded him the distinction of graduating with Honors. To obtain more experience and advanced training, Brian completed an optional one-year postdoctoral residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) at UNC School of Dentistry. In this residency, Brian took advanced coursework and clinical training on cosmetic dentistry, dental implant restoration, comprehensive treatment planning, periodontology, endodontics, oral surgery and pediatric dentistry.
Brian is a member of the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry. Brian is currently a member of the Gaston Study Club and the Foothills Dental Continuum. Continuing education is a professional emphasis for Brian as he is well on his way in working toward a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.

Brian met his wife Kris in undergrad as they were both taking classes for their biology degrees. Brian proposed on Groundhog's Day during his fourth year of dental school and they married the summer after he graduated. Brian and Kris are members of First United Methodist Church. They are proud parents of two daughters, Brinkley and Kallie, and also enjoy raising their pet corgis.
One of Brian's many hobbies is pottery. He enjoyed making pottery in college, but now is an avid collector of Catawba Valley face jugs. He co-authored a book about local pottery released in 2012, VALLEY ABLAZE: Pottery Tradition in the Catawba Valley.

Dr. John Dock Tallent

Dr. John Dock Tallent was born and raised in Vale, N.C. He was the Valedictorian of the 2013 graduating class at West Lincoln High School. Following high school, he attended Appalachian State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry in 2017, graduating again #1 in his class. During his time at Appalachian, he found his passion for dentistry through observing many dentists, including Dr. Keith and Dr. Brian Dedmond. John Dock then went on to attend The University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and graduated as a part of the class of 2021.  In his senior year of dental school, John Dock was bestowed the James A Harrell Award for leadership and citizenship.  Dr. Tallent is now a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentists, and the Foothills Dental Continuum of the Seattle Study Club.


 Since graduation, John Dock is excited to have the chance to return to and rejoin his hometown community in Lincoln County once again.  He has a large family, and is happy to be back closer to them. He is a member of Reeps Grove United Methodist Church. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, his girlfriend Erica, and their dog Penelope. When he is not with friends and family or practicing dentistry, it is likely he can be found somewhere on a golf course.
